Ross sells wolf tickets!

First Rick Ross says he never served as a prison guard. Lie! Now someone runs Plies’ criminal record, and it looks like all his grimy tales of drug sales, prison time, killing, and pimping are indeed false! What the hell is wrong with these rappers? “I’m the biggest drug dealer ever! Believe Me! I kill people and sell cocaine! I do deals with Columbians!”

For these crafty liars rap is just a natural progression into further buffoonery. Look at the videos and the imagery in today’s rap. In trying to find something solid to stand on, we have to go through a million Plies’s, Flo-rida’s, Rick Ross’s, Young Berg’s, Lil Scrappy’s, etc. These dudes ain’t killers! These dudes ain’t in the park slanging $5 rocks! These dudes are entertainers - and shitty ones at that. Rick Ross makes dope music, why can’t that be his legacy? Why does dude need to build his whole campaign on the fact he did deals with Cubans and Dominicans n’ shit?

Let’s look at some classic albums and the artists behind them…Nas-Illmatic..dude was a roughneck from Queens, never had to brag about what he sold or the killings, he relied on his skills to do that for him. Jay-Z, yes dude had a checkered past, but his music is what we remember. De La Soul? Common? Wu-Tang?

I guess my point is this - fans, don’t buy into this shallow shit. Don’t let these rappers get away with this shit. Demand realism! Demand the truth. I’m not going to tell you what to listen to, but look for artists with some kind of integrity - not some fucking tool thats going to flaunt material things with the same old sound and same old tired producer and same old tired drug and pimp story. Look for artists that use the fame and wealth they’ve come across in this industry towards something worthwhile. Rap is continuing the path towards shit-dom…make sure you stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.
